CLEAN AND GREEN AS A WAY OF LIFE
Las Piñas City is not resting on its laurels even after winning the Cleanest and Greenest City in Metro Manila for two consecutive years. Rather, it will strive to do better as it makes the Clean and Green philosophy a way of life, and inclinator of the city’s progress and standard of living, and a multisectoral movement worthy of emulation by other local government units in the country. The same factors which won the recognition for the city in the city in the Clean and Green category-namely, the implementation of innovative programs, efficient administration and a high degree of volunteerism by all concerned sectors- will be implemented as the government of Las Piñas seeks to make the Clean and Green campaign a sustainable endeavor. By doing so, the city government under two-term Mayor Vergel “Nene” Aguilar is laying the groundwork for a topnotch, progressive community whose fruits will not only be enjoyed by present residents but by future generations a well.
LAS PIÑAS CLEAN & GREEN PROJECT
For almost nine years of consistently campaigning for a clean and green community Las Piñas succeeded in making the campaign sustainable. The city government through the Clean and Green Council headed by Mrs. Imelda T. Aguilar wife of previous mayor Vergel A. Aguilar, is now the mayor, has been successful in getting the active involvement of the residents in the campaign. This eventually makes the local population more aware and conscious of their role in the environmental protection. The continuous and various initiative of the city government aimed at addressing the garbage disposal problem and the cleanliness of the city have also contributed tremendously to the success of the program.
